You can analyze your own custom-drawn areas within a market or submarket using our powerful draw-on-map tool.

To get started, click on Find a Market in the left-side navigation panel. This will take you to the country overview page, where you can view all US markets. To change the country, click the globe icon in the top-right corner of the screen next to your name initials. Also, click the small arrows icon at the bottom of the map to enlarge the map view.

After clicking on a market or submarket, the draw-on-map function can be used within any of the Market Insights sections (in the left-side navigation panel) where the map is available. Just click the Draw icon located on the map legend.

This will prompt you to click on the map to begin drawing a polygon around your desired area. To complete the shape, make sure the final point connects back to the starting point, which will close and define your custom region.

Once created, all of the metrics and datasets on the platform will be refreshed to reflect the listings encompassed in the new custom region.

Custom regions are applied as a filter and can be found in the list of filters at the top of the screen. If you need to edit the boundaries of your custom region, click on the Redraw button on the map. To delete it, just click the X on ‘All filters’

You can also apply any of the other filters to your custom region. For example, filters like bedroom and bathroom counts, amenities and price tiers and many more.

.

If you’re happy with the custom region you have drawn and want to use it again, just click the Save icon next to the row of filters at the top of the screen. This will prompt you to create a new saved filter.

Note that if you have any of the other filters applied, they will also be saved to the custom region. For example, if you have filtered for 2-bedroom listings, the saved custom region will only show data for 2-bedroom listings.

To save the filter, simply give it a name so you can easily find and apply it again from your saved filters.

To reapply your saved filter to the platform, just click the Save bookmark icon at the end of the filters row.

Draw-on-map is a useful tool for analyzing specific areas within market or submarket boundaries, such as zip codes or certain streets. It allows you to really customize your analysis and dig into the performance of properties located in distinct locations, for example, tourist attractions, landmarks, or groups of properties surrounding lakefronts, mountain regions, or beachfronts.
